October 1, 2008… Saint Louis, Missouri… The American Soybean
Association (ASA) announced today that it is partnering with DTN to
provide ASA members with 12 months of free access (a $120 value) to DTN
Marketspace™, an online crop merchandising platform and marketing
solution designed to link producers and agribusinesses via the Internet
to more efficiently buy and sell grain and oilseeds.
"The American Soybean Association is always looking for opportunities
to help its members operate more profitably," said Rob Joslin, a soybean
producer from Sidney, Ohio who Chairs ASA’s Membership & Corporate
Relations Committee. "This partnership will be a great member benefit to
participating growers because they can better market their cash soybeans
and corn through the innovations of DTN Marketspace."
DTN Marketspace provides ASA members a private, secure and reliable
online marketplace that facilitates communication between producers and
agribusinesses to make offers and bids, manage positions and contracts,
and track transactions and delivery commitments. ASA members also will
receive a 25 percent discount on transactional pricing as long as their
ASA membership is current. For more information, go to
http://www.soygrowers.com/dtn/. ASA members will also be able to sign up
for DTN Marketspace from this web page.
"Producers who are not already members of the ASA can join now to
receive this valuable benefit," Joslin said. "To join, go to
https://www.soygrowers.com/membership/join.htm."
Through DTN Marketspace, ASA members can privately post their asking
price for selected agribusinesses to review. The automated online system
will automatically send both e-mail and text message notifications to
the producer when a buyer accepts. Available as an online marketing
tool, DTN Marketspace offers producers a 24-hour storefront allowing
farmers to place offers any time that is convenient for their schedules,
including after regular business hours and on the weekends.
"We are proud to partner with the American Soybean Association, an
organization that encourages farmers to be more innovative and business
savvy," said Robert Gordon, DTN chief executive officer. "DTN
Marketspace is the latest in online agribusiness innovations, which
helps producers secure the best possible price for their grain and
provides the flexibility to conduct business on their own schedule."
Producers can check more than 7,800 freight-adjusted bids daily at
more than 3,700 agribusiness locations within DTN Marketspace’s
comprehensive suite of online tools, making cash marketing even easier.
