ASA Will
Participate in Crop Insurance RoundtableAmerican Soybean
Association (ASA) Chairman John Hoffman, a soybean producer from
Waterloo, Iowa, will represent ASA at a House Agriculture Subcommittee
Roundtable on crop insurance on Wednesday, November 4, beginning at
3:00 p.m. EST in House Ag Committee room in Washington, D.C. Hoffman,
who will be joined by representatives from a broad group of commodity
and farm groups that have been invited to the Roundtable, will speak
about the participation of soybean farmers in the program and his
individual experience with crop insurance.
The Roundtable was organized by Congressmen Leonard Boswell (D-IA),
Chairman of the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management
Subcommittee of the House Agriculture Committee, and ranking member
Jerry Moran (R-KS).
The House Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk
Management has jurisdiction over program and markets related to
cotton, cottonseed, wheat, feed grains, soybeans, oilseeds, rice, dry
beans, peas, lentils, the Commodity Credit Corporation, risk
management including crop insurance and commodity exchanges.
ASA represents U.S. soybean farmers on domestic and international
issues of importance to the soybean industry. ASA’s advocacy efforts
are made possible through the voluntary membership in ASA by over
22,500 farmers in 29 states where soybeans are grown.
