Stephen Censky, Chief

Stephen L. Censky is the American Soybean Association’s Chief Executive Officer, a staff position he has held since 1996. Censky was formerly the Association’s Executive Director for International Marketing, a position he held for two years. As ASA’s top executive, Censky is in charge of managing ASA’s legislative, international marketing, membership, and educational and training programs.
Prior to joining ASA, Censky served as Associate Administrator and Acting Administrator of the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) 900-person Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) where he worked extensively with foreign market development programs and on trade policy issues. He also served as Assistant to the Under Secretary of Agriculture. Prior to serving at USDA, Censky worked on Capital Hill for several years as Legislative Assistant to Senator James Abdnor of South Dakota.
Originally from southwestern Minnesota, Censky grew up on a soybean and corn farm. He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agriculture from South Dakota State University and his Master’s Diploma in Agriculture Studies from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
The American Soybean Association is a national, not-for-profit, nonpartisan, volunteer, farmer-controlled commodity organization with about 25,000 members that work to strengthen soybeans as an economically and environmentally sound cropping opportunity in the best interest of soybean growers and the public. ASA has 25 state affiliates.
The American Soybean Association was founded in 1920.
