Farm Description:
Vernon is a second
generation corn, soybean, and wheat farmer in Perry County, Illinois.
Currently Vernon, John and Brian farm approximately 3,000 acres, all no
till, of corn, soybeans and wheat. Through the years Kevin has also
helped, but now lives in Columbus, Ohio. Vernon's father, William, started
farming with 100 acres in rural Perry County. William started with a team
of two horses in 1925. Through the years, with the help of Vernon's sons,
the farm has grown into the 3,000 acres that it is today. If you were to
visit Vernon and Helen you would see the grandsons William (3) and Isaac
(2) hanging around in prep to be the next generation of Mayer Farms.
