Farm Description:
I grew up driving a
tractor on the family farm in southeast Kansas. After earning a
Mechanical Engineering degree from Kansas State University in 1969, I went
to work at Boeing in Wichita. Since I drove back to the farm each weekend
to work, I was told I had topsoil in my blood. The summer of 1971, I
joined my dad and brother full-time on the family farm. Then in 1999 my
son, Chris, and I began to farm together as
Edmondson Farms. Currently the two of us have 3,400 acres under
cultivation. Depending on the weather, we plant around 1,000 acres corn,
2,400 acres soybeans, and 1,500 acres wheat. With bigger machinery and
advances in technology, we only hire some part-time help during harvest.
